EPICO aims at the American market

EPICO has acquired four new hydroelectric plants in the state of Maine. “The companies will become part of the newborn EPICO USA Inc. bringing to 37 the number of plants in the portfolio of the group nowadays, with the yearly total produced energy increased of about 25%. Aiming at the American market has been almost a forced choice” says Valerio Andreoli, Epico’s Managing Director “We have been active in Italy in the sector of small and medium sized plants for more than ten years, but developing conditions have become more and more difficult and expensive, bureaucracy we must face every day for authorizations, permissions and involved parties discourage our entrepreneurial spirit. That’s why the developing strategy has chosen North America. The new energy policy guidelines mapped out by the current administration, the wide natural resources, a highly well-regulated market and the present economical American and international situation make investments really interesting. Actually there is a great potential of making and acquiring mini hydroelectric plants offered by local operators, which can offer high margin of production increases if managed by professional people; a sector not explored enough at the moment. Here are the reasons why we strongly have pursued to enter the American market, using only the financial resources given by our shareholders and we are going to increase our presence in the future.
